'Girls can' county camp organiser

Siobhan spend five days at our County Camp working within the PR and Media team, specifically working to create a visual record of the event. She worked under the direction of the team leader for PR and Marketing.

At the start of the event Siobhan filmed and directed the flag ceremony, which she then edited in a very short time so that it could be shown as part of the opening ceremony.

She then acted as our chief “roving reporter” visiting various activities both on site and off, collecting footage of the event to share amongst the 600+ participants. Once the film and images were taken she then edited them, using the best images to create a short film which was shown at the closing ceremony. The completed film was a highlight of the closing ceremony, with many leaders and girls making positive comments about it and requesting copies

In addition to taking her photographs, Siobhan worked each day with some of our 14 –18 year old members, sharing her knowledge of photo / video techniques and allowing them to make a contribution towards the film. Some of these images were then immediately posted to social media.

Prior to the event Siobhan had to ensure that she was familiar with Girlguiding UK’s policies concerning taking and using film and photographs. This knowledge then had to be put into practice at the event. This has been a particularly challenging aspect of this project due to the recent change in UK law, the introduction of GDPR and needing to adhere to Girlguiding’s policies concerning images and parental consent.

Throughout the event Siobhan remained approachable and upbeat, despite working some extremely long days and sometimes seemingly insurmountable challenges to overcome.

Communications Officer - myaware

Siobhan performed well in her role and was a valuable member of the myaware team. She helped us tremendously with the development of the new website and contributed many creative ideas which will be implemented on the new site.

As well as helping develop our new site, Siobhan managed our social media - which experienced a growth in usage under her tutelage. She also created a myaware Instagram account, which has given us another platform on which to raise awareness.

Overall, we were delighted with her hard-working attitude and wish her every success for the future.
